About us

Park Lane (UK) Limited was established over 30 years ago by Roland Dane, our Managing Director.

Roland’s career in the motor industry began in August 1975 when, upon leaving school, he was given an apprenticeship at Panther Westwinds by MD Robert Jankel, initially helping make around 100 coach built vehicles per year. Roland spent between 3 and 6 months in each department; from fabrication to paint, and from purchasing to sales this offered an amazing introduction into a lifelong career in the industry. Roland only parted ways with Panther in 1984 when he went to work for the German coachbuilder and armourer Trasco, based in their prestigious Park Lane showrooms.

Roland founded Park Lane (UK) Limited in 1986, based in offices in Park Street, Mayfair - just off Park Lane, where he was joined a couple of years later by and old school freind and now long standing business partner, Andrew Jackson. The company’s initial focus was the sale of coach built Mercedes and other exotic vehicles into Asian markets, perfectly utilising Roland's expertise. A UK based vehicle leasing and contract hire operation was soon added to the group.

This portfolio of business grew rapidly, focusing on the sale of luxury cars from the UK and internationally with a focus on Asian markets. This growth meant that space restrictions inherent with working in central London soon became an issue and therefore the company relocated in 1991 to Alton, Hampshire, into the freehold properties we own and occupy to this day. This expansion also saw the addition of a few more experienced staff. Most notably Steve Wright, who joined the company in the late 90s and more than 20 years later remains with us as Sales Director looking after the day to day activities in Alton.

Alongside this ever-growing business portfolio, between the late 80s through to 1993 Roland was also enjoying racing Hondas run by Derek Warwick Honda in Southampton. This relationship developed into the 1996 joint establishment, along with Ian Harrison, of the highly successful Triple Eight Race Engineering in Banbury, representing Vauxhall in the BTCC for an unparalleled 13 years.

Roland’s, and therefore Park Lane’s, association with motorsport continues to this day through the hugely successful Triple Eight Race Engineering Australia – established in September 2003. Triple Eight Australia has carved a name for itself in the history books, clocking up (so far!) eight Team Championships, eight Driver's titles and six Bathurst 1000 wins – now racing under its sponsorship from Red Bull.
