Jaguar E-TYPE Series 1 4.2 Roadster

We are pleased to offer to the market this immaculate, 1966 built example of Jaguar’s iconic Series 1 E-Type 4.2 litre roadster. This matching numbers car looks stunning in Pale Primrose Yellow with a Black Hood and Black Leather – it’s factory original colour scheme as confirmed by its Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

Leaving the factory gates in October 1966 for shipment to Jaguar Cars New York (USA) this car was registered in early 1967 to the first of its two United States owners. In their hands it covered just 47,000 miles and remained in superficially good original condition.

Repatriated to the UK in 2012 by a Jaguar enthusiast it was soon decided that this car would be subject to a full restoration. It was also decided at this time that although the restoration would be authentic to the recorded factory specification it would be re-built as right-hand drive.

The enthusiastic, and very particular, owner decided to employ the services of some of the finest specialist companies in the UK for the restoration.

The full bare metal re-spray was carried out by 355 Automobile Restorations, finishing with four coats of two pack paint, polished to a mirror finish.

The full interior re-trim was carried out by Lee Drake Auto Trim to a very exacting standard, this included fully refurbishing and rebuilding the seat frames to make the finish as new. Lee Drake also undertook the fitment of the impeccable black mohair hood (so much nicer than vinyl) to a refurbished frame finished in the correct duck egg colour.

The comprehensive engine strip down and rebuild was performed by Graham Williams at Classic Car Engines Ltd. at great expense. It was then polished and finished to a near new standard with the correct paint finish. Classic Car Engines also rebuilt the gearbox to the same exacting standard.

The history file details these major jobs but also shows an enormous number of parts invoices from Marque specialist suppliers including S. N. G. Barratt Group, David Manners Ltd. and E-Type Spares to name but a few. There are also over seventy photographs on file showing the restoration process.

The decision to use specialists in their particular fields has paid huge dividends, with the end result a Series 1 4.2 Roadster that is hard to fault having not been used since the rebuild! It is a car that could proudly grace any occasion with a fit and finish almost certainly better than when it left the Jaguar factory back in 1966.

This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a very special E-Type that has been fully "sorted" and prepared so it is ready to be enjoyed by its next very lucky custodian.
