We are pleased to bring to the market this wonderful example of Bimota’s iconic SB6-R.
The SB6-R followed Bimota’s traditional route of taking the rather overweight but powerful Suzuki GSX-R1100’s engine and gearbox, then building a machine around it. In this case it involved an exotic aluminium beam chassis, stunning single seat bodywork, an underseat exhaust system, Paioli forks, adjustable Ohlins rear shock and Brembo brakes – amongst other equally exotic components.
The GSX-R1100 engine is a gem as standard but Bimota also modified it for this machine with their own cams and exhaust system – resulting in a maximum power figure of 156bhp at 10,000 rpm. The SB6 series is Bimota’s most successful, it appeals to those that crave something exotic but love the screaming rush of a four cylinder. Not to mention the reliability of Japanese mechanicals and the reasonable service costs that go along with them.
This particular machine was first registered in June 2000 to the first of its two keepers. It remains in standard specification complete with optional carbon cladding to the main aluminium beams of the chassis – giving a unique appearance. It has covered just over 1,700 miles from new and remains in immaculate condition.
