The Range Rover can trace its root right back to the 1950’s, initially designed as a significantly upgraded Land Rover however after the idea was cancelled in 1958 it wasn’t until the mid 1960s that the idea was revisited. After successful testing the car was finally launched in June 1970 and marketed to be the complete all-rounder – a performance car, an estate car, a cross country car and a luxury car all in one. The Range Rover initially used a Rover V8 engine and was an instant hit, spawning countless variations culminating in the vast Range Rover model range available today!
Our ‘Highway Yellow’ car was supplied new in November 1981 where it lived until we imported the car as part of a collection. It has recently returned from our local Land Rover Specialists after a £6,000 recommissioning including replacement of the inner and outer sills on both sides and a thorough mechanical overhaul. As such the car presents wonderfully yet is still extremely useable and would look amazing back in the countryside where it belongs!
